Evaluation of the pilot period

Make a Move is a cross-sectoral initiative in Västra Götaland to increase movement, improve health and build a more movement-rich society with physical literacy as a compass. The pilot period (2022-2025) has been evaluated and shows clear positive results.

Make a Move has increased the movement, strengthened cross-sectoral collaboration and created long-term structures. There is great potential for dissemination and further development throughout Västra Götaland. The pilot period has resulted in working models and implementation support that more municipalities can use to establish a movement-promoting work.

Regional cooperation

- Regional collaboration on movement has been strengthened
- The Movement Council has provided legitimacy, networks and new collaborations

Pilot municipalities (Lidköping and Mölndal)

- Physical literacy has been integrated into regular processes
- Staff have been inspired, new ways of working and increased consensus
- Collaboration between different sectors/administrations has improved

Results and impacts in different arenas

Preschool: Increased movement of children, healthier children, less conflict, increased activity level of staff

School: Increased movement, better concentration, fewer conflicts and improved self-confidence of students, calmer classrooms, increased well-being of both students and staff

Community planning: New activity spaces, redesigned playgrounds, preschool and school playgrounds, more co-creative building processes with children and local stakeholders

Leisure: New initiatives through cooperation with local associations, more children and elderly included in physical activities and local associations

Health and social care: New ways of working with communities to promote physical activity for children with obesity and diabetes
