Through an approach based on physical literacy, cross-sectoral collaboration and association collaboration in various arenas, Make a Move has a model for how movement can be integrated into the municipality's regular activities.

When a municipality joins Make a Move, it receives extensive initial support - both in terms of skills development and process support. Over time, ownership is transferred to the municipality itself, ensuring that the work can continue and develop within the framework of the municipality's own structures and objectives.

Several arenas
Make a Move operates in several key municipal areas (preschool, school, community planning, leisure and health and social care). Over a three-year period, the initiative has been tested in these arenas in collaboration with two pilot municipalities - Mölndal City and Lidköping Municipality - where new methods for promoting movement have been developed and tested in practice. Make a Move supports municipalities in taking a holistic approach where many parts of the municipality are involved in promoting movement.

Cross-sectoral collaboration
One of Make a Move's main strengths is its ability to act as a catalyst for internal collaboration. By bringing together key people from different departments, new networks are created where movement has a natural place. This cross-sectoral collaboration helps to ensure that movement does not become an isolated effort, but a common development area that can permeate the entire municipality's governance and business development. Make a Move can support the design of work and collaboration structures within a municipality and the establishment of local movement councils.

Physical literacy
Through targeted skills development in physical literacy , both strategic decision-makers and operational employees are strengthened. Make a Move offers training, lectures and network meetings on basic and niche topics for different professions and activities. When the entire organization shares a common approach to movement, better conditions are created for collaboration, initiative and innovative solutions. It becomes easier to identify opportunities, build bridges between activities and work towards a common goal: a more mobile society for all citizens.

Associations
Make a Move enables collaboration with local associations to promote movement for different target groups. Through this, the power and expertise that exists in civil society is utilized to enable positive movement experiences. We see associations as an important partner in all arenas. Make a Move offers support in the design of collaborative structures. This can, for example, involve trial activities for preschools, adapted activities for children with special needs in collaboration with child health care, activities for seniors in collaboration with health and social care, etc.

"The main keys to driving the work are to have very broad representation from as many administrations as possible. We've also seen that it's been important to get it into regular governance processes."

/ Johanna Nygren, Public Health Coordinator in Mölndal City
