One way of many that makes children more independent

As one of the pilot preschools in Make a Move, Filsbäck's preschool works to create positive movement experiences in children's everyday lives. The staff guide the children to dare to try new movements to become independent individuals.

The preschool has a small hill that is used for sledding when there is snow. Lucas is one and a half years old. From the beginning, he sat and waited for the teacher to help him. The thick clothes restrict their movements and make them more still.

However, the adult physically demonstrated how he could roll out of the sled, grab the string and pull it up the hill, and then how to sit down and move around in the sled to gain speed. He learned all these steps quickly and was then able to manage on his own. I want, I dare, I can!

This is a great example of when a small change can make a difference to children's development of motor movements and at the same time boost their confidence by overcoming a challenge!
