The Public Health Agency of Sweden's report "School children who are physically active report better mental health" provides information on the relationship between physical activity and mental health based on a national sample of 11-, 13-, and 15-year-olds in Sweden who wore activity monitors and completed a questionnaire.
The results show that children who are more physically active report higher life satisfaction and fewer problems with depression, irritability, nervousness and sleep problems, compared to children who are less physically active.
This publication is aimed at policy-makers and officials at regional and local level, as well as school staff, lecturers in training courses for school staff, researchers and others who come into contact with children and young people in their work.
