Employer / Workplace

In Sweden, the service sector has grown, and jobs that were previously physically demanding are becoming more theoretical and digital. Many occupational groups are sedentary during the working day and homeworking, which is becoming more and more common, is adding to this trend.
Employers are responsible for their employees' work environment and can encourage physical activity in many ways through shared activities or the physical environment and surroundings of the workplace. Examples include exercise breaks during meetings, lunchtime walks with colleagues, access to bicycle storage and changing rooms, fitness time for exercise during working hours or lectures on healthy lifestyles.
The advantage of reaching out to people in their workplaces is that it reaches a large part of society and can lead to lasting change.
