Children and young people's physical activity habits - more physical activity-friendly communities needed

Children and young people spend less time doing heart rate-enhancing physical activity as they get older. At the same time, sedentary behavior increases. Boys are generally more physically active than girls of the same age. This is according to the Public Health Agency of Sweden in Fact Sheet, article 24105.

This factsheet summarizes results from Swedish studies that used activity monitors to measure physical activity among children and young people aged 4-17 years. It also describes what we know about the relationship between physical activity and young people's physical and mental health.
