Make a Move – Active children
Starting in 2026, Make a Move has been granted support from the Swedish Inheritance Fund for a development project aimed at increasing children's physical activity and strengthening their physical, mental, and social health. The goal is to further develop and test a cross-sectoral model that improves understanding of physical activity and increases physical activity among children aged 1–6 in the Västra Götaland region.
To achieve this goal, we will develop a model that has been tested in Mölndal and Lidköping, where children, guardians, preschools, sports clubs, community planners, and child health care providers collaborate through new working methods, with physical literacy the approach.
Within the project, we will:
- Establish local mobility councils in six additional municipalities, where all project stakeholders are represented.
- Develop movement dialogue as a tool for children's participation.
- Develop a training package
- Develop digital tools that include AI support and process support for preschools.
- Develop forms of cooperation between preschools, local sports clubs, and the Leisure Bank.
- Establish regional networks for the exchange of ideas and experiences.
After the project, the exercise councils and training programs will continue within the municipality's activities, and RF-SISU Västra Götaland and Västra Götaland Parasportsförbund will ensure that cooperation between preschools and sports clubs continues. The partner organizations are jointly responsible for managing the implementation support and networks.
The municipalities participating in the project are Gullspång, Lerum, Skara, Uddevalla, Vara, and Vänersborg.
